Finding Vegetarian food in Malta

Malta is a gorgeous country with amazing choices for food, be it the traditional Maltese, Mediterranean, Indian, and Turkish cuisines. Being an island nation, it is obvious that the majority of restaurants serve seafood. For vegetarians like us, it was a hard time finding food in Malta.

Malta is definitely heaven with amazing bays, beaches, megalithic temples and much more… If you are a vegetarian and want to visit Malta, seafood shouldn’t be a barrier for you. Here are some of the restaurants and bistros that made our visit to Malta a delectable one :)

Balance Bowl

Address: 182 Triq Ix – Xatt, Il-Gżira, Malta

A lovely restaurant in Gzira which offers only vegetarian and vegan dishes. This place offers the best vegan food on the island!! The food is freshly made on premises, the place is comfortable, great not just for eating but also for chilling out and working (they have coaches, bean bags, board games, books, power sockets for laptops) and the service is just great. They have a varied menu starting from wraps, burgers, salads to desserts. Also, don’t forget to try out the Maeloc cider!

Noodle box

Address: 67, The Strand Sliema SLM, Sliema 1028, Malta

A great food establishment by MedAsia in Sliema. This place offers quick service, very friendly staff, tasty and healthy food, very cheap, and is best for takeaway. The packaging is really great and eco-friendly. There wasn’t much choice for vegetarians, but the Chef was kind enough to make one for us. I am really glad we stopped here and had the tastiest noodles! Go for the takeaway, sit on the benches at Sliema Triq Ix -Xatt and enjoy the view of Valletta.

Want to try out something healthy and fresh?? Visit this amazing place. They have outlets in Gzira, Valletta, and St. Julians. The place offers not just the wraps or salads but the delicious smoothies, that are to die for!

Churchill Restaurant, Gozo

Address: Triq San Xmun, Xlendi XLN 1300, Malta

This is one amazing restaurant by the Xlendi Bay in Gozo. The view is just marvelous. The restaurant is a little drab from outside, but go in and you’re in a cave in the hillside with beautiful chandeliers. The place offers great food and beverage choices. Try out their very own Pasta with traditional Gozo cheese.

Il Bitha ta’ Doni, Rabat

Address: Triq San Pawl, Ir-Rabat, Malta

Just before entering Mdina, We found this very cute romantic place in Rabat. The food, desserts, and ambiance were just amazing. The place offers a lot of traditional Maltese desserts which are worth a try.
